Hurricane Katrina films: “American refugees” & “lost souls of the big easy” |

|
The TriMedia Film Festival is showcasing my film as a World Premier on Sunday September 9th in the Lincoln Center at 417 W Magnolia St. in Fort Collins, CO. The film is 25 minutes long and will be shown in a block of three short films beginning at 12pm. This is my second documentary film with footage captured in New Orleans, LA after Hurricane Katrina hit on August 25th, 2005. When I learned of the hurricane, I quickly organized a film crew and traveled to New Orleans from Los Angeles in a rented SUV. I lived in the vehicle for nine days while shooting this film, eating only Zone Bars and drinking Gatorade when inside the city to avoid food contamination. The film tells the survival stories of men, women and children in the aftermath of the hurricane and contains shocking scenes you may have never seen before. My aunt was among those who’s homes were destroyed in New Orleans. This film is dedicated to all of us affected by Hurricane Katrina, representing humanity and the power of people to pull together. |
